Being part of the management team at SBG Services has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. As Finance Manager, I see every day how much integrity and care go into the way this company operates. Decisions are made honestly, people are treated with respect, and there’s a genuine commitment to doing the right thing, even when it isn’t the easy option.
What stands out most is the work ethic that runs through the whole organisation. Everyone takes real pride in what they do, and that sense of ownership makes it a pleasure to come to work. The management team is collaborative, supportive and open, and I’ve always felt my ideas are valued and my contributions recognised.

I started at SBG as a part-time cleaner, taking on extra hours alongside another job. I had a background in building and trades work, and I’d tutored at college, but cleaning wasn’t something I’d ever seen as a career. I just wanted the hours.
It didn’t stay that way for long. SBG noticed how I went about the work and started giving me more responsibility. I stepped up to supervisor, then moved into my first management role as Training Manager, where I could bring my tutoring background into how we train our people. Today I’m the Operations Manager.
Along the way I’ve built up my qualifications, including IOSH Managing Safely, IPAF, PASMA, working at height and first aid. Each one has made me better at looking after our sites and our team.
I’ve done the job our team does every day, so I know what it asks of people. That’s why, when I’m on site, I’m not only checking the work. I’m looking out for the next person who’s ready for more, because someone did that for me.
